Front Page and Graphic Design Festival Scotland

Oct 17th, 2016

It’s that time of year again when Graphic Design Festival Scotland rolls round. This may only be its third year, but it has its place is firmly rooted in the Front Page calendar, and this year we’re especially excited, as we’ve been asked to be one of the mentors for the Live Project.

We got hooked on GDFS last year when loads of us took part in a whole host of workshops, from the research and production of a typeface with Colophon, to making a music video with Kate Moross and turning illustrations into multi-coloured artwork with Workhorse Press’s riso printer. Not forgetting Andrew hitting the highway in his Hellmet at the STV Creative workshop.

We love GDFS and everything it stands for. It’s fantastic that such a small team of people can bring world-class designers to Glasgow, host a well-curated set of events to compliment the workshops and generally help the Scottish design industry up its game and challenge itself.

Speaking of challenges, this year Lisa, Martin and myself have one of our own – as mentors for the Live Project. We are lucky enough to have been asked to help a group of students and recent graduates make their way through the 2-day live brief, from the initial concepts right through to the final presentations in front of a panel of internationally renown judges. We are ready and prepared and can’t wait to get started!

We’ll let you know how we get on!
