Ever-hungry for new ways to flex our creative muscle, we’re almost stupidly excited to be attending a few events at the forthcoming Graphic Design Festival Scotland running Tuesday 20–Sunday 25 October.
Largely based at Glasgow’s The Lighthouse, the international design initiative “promotes creativity, innovation, collaboration and challenges ways of thinking through a programme of workshops, talks, panel discussions, exhibitions, competitions, music and urban murals”.
Colour us champing at the proverbial.
So much so that there was actually a bit of a Wacoms-at-dawn situation over who would get to go to what. The question was, however, amicably resolved, and a host of our creatives will be at the festival doors next week, eyes bright and tails bushy.
Senior designers Mark and Andrew, along with copywriter Emma, will be attending the one-day STV Creative workshop (film-based) while digital designer Graham H and senior creative Kath are on board for Workhorse Press (risograph printing). Of the two-day workshops, design managers Martin and yours truly are venturing forth to Colophon (type design), as senior digital designer Nick tackles the Studio Moross event (rotoscoping).
It’s just possible that a few beverages will also be consumed at the banging launch party, and all this wonderful creative sparking is due to be rounded off with some very cool talks on Sunday afternoon, where the speakers include The Rodina, HelloMe and It’s Nice That. All in all, there’s going to be some pretty intense creativity going on. We can’t wait to get stuck in.
