Countdown to our 25th birthday bash!

By now you might have heard that we’ll be celebrating our 25th year in business on 5 November, but you might not know that we started thinking about our big day on a dreich and dreary afternoon in early February. (Editor’s note: ‘dreich’ is a Scottish word meaning a combination of dull, overcast, drizzly, cold, misty and miserable weather. At least four of the above adjectives must apply before the weather is considered trulydreich).

So, boy, are we ready to party like it’s 1990.

We’ll be hosting our birthday bash at Glasgow’s ultra happening SWG3 (Studio Warehouse) described by The Skinny as a venue where “The exhibitions are almost always innovative, engaging and worth a look.”

The centrepiece of the evening’s entertainment, and the reason we’ve been mulling since February, will be a one-night-only, pop-up exhibition in the Gallery Room that will celebrate our two-and-a-half decades of work through a variety of creative installations.

These will include:

  • The Front Page timeline—a specially created exhibition piece featuring the highlights of the past 25 years in design, technology and culture and our own unique contributions
  • The Poster Project—the cream of our fortnightly poster design initiative
  • #FrontPagePinups—the best of our weekly photography competition on Instagram
  • Project Room—a compilation of our monthly extra-curricular creative collaborations, including the 100 Day Project (where Kath and Laura completed this global design initiative); Secret 7s (Martin and Laura made it to the final selection of 7” record sleeves; screen printing; Sketch Crawl; and rum tasting/bottle design

There’ll be other fun stuff, like a photo booth, signature cocktails, and a banging soundtrack, plus we’ll be out and about on social media as excitement builds in the run up. The preparations have been a labour of love, involving many of the Front Page team, so when we share the results with the lucky party-goers, you’ll see that our strength and our ability to pull together to create a unique experience are rare indeed.
