The art of screen printing

From the venue to the food and the cake to the dress, planning a wedding can be stressful. However, from the beginning I knew there would be one thing I wouldn’t have to worry about for my own – the invites.

Here at Front Page, I’m lucky to work with a group of extremely talented and dynamic designers. So, I asked one of our lovely Print Designers, Lisa, to help me create my invites!

We discussed ideas, and Lisa suggested we screen print the invites; a method in which mesh is used to transfer ink on to a material, with a blocking stencil used to mark letters and shapes. I wasn’t really familiar with the technique, but after seeing several examples online, I was eager to go ahead.

I couldn’t be more chuffed with how they are looking. Lisa did a fantastic job on the design and the process has given the copy an almost 3D texture, and no two invite is exactly the same – perfect for adding a bit more personality!

I’d really recommend screen printing to anyone looking to do something a little different with their invites. While not everyone has the luxury of a talented designer creating them, the process is a brilliant way to bring a design to life.
